GSL Blog - Best laid plans: Morse Code

We’re thinking about working a little less over the holidays.
Regardless of one’s faith (or lack thereof) the Christmas and New Year season is a useful lull in the normal hurly-burly of BAU.
But in the spirit of New Year resolutions (and because we find it hard to switch off) we’re thinking of each learning something new: add another skill to the portfolio.
Mine isn’t going to be work-related but part of my hobby: I’m going to start learning Morse code.
I love amateur radio but using voice feels like cheating.
They tell me the trick is to get into the habit of regular practice, so that’s my plan over the holidays.

PS: of course, this didn't happen!
photo of a Begali Traveler Light morse iambic paddle key. The body is a dark blue and the finger pads are orangey-red. An iambic paddle has two levers - pressing the left one with the thumb provides a stream of dashes, and the left one provides dots. Pinching both makes an alternating stream of dots and dashes. #learning #christmas #amateurradio #newyearresolution
